Burial Mound

clay, wool, Himalayan blackberry dye, Himalayan blackberry flowers

Rubus bifrons, or Himalayan blackberry, is an invasive species introduced to North America in the 1800s. This plant’s visual traits informed elements of this work ruminating on climate grief and anxiety.

The earthen long barrow is a Neolithic style of burial chamber where the bones of the deceased were often mixed together, possibly to obliterate distinctions of wealth and status.

All materials used to construct this piece were repurposed or gleaned.
